The theory and new hazard perception test  has been designed to test a driver’s ability to  'read the road'.  Learning to drive is as much about knowing how to be safe on the roads as it is about handling the car. Steve will ensure that you learn about road signs and general road etiquette as well as anticipation of hazards.

It is a fact that within the first two years of passing your driving test, you are more vulnerable on today's busy roads than experienced drivers.  As many as 1 in 5 newly qualified drivers will have an accident in the first year - the highest risk being faced by 17 to 25 year olds.

The written tests are designed to boost your skills so that you're less likely to be involved in an accident. Research shows that just three hours of hazard perception training can significantly reduce the accident rate of an inexperienced driver.

Jackos Driving School recommends that students take at least one 2-hour lesson a week, but it's your choice.  The best value for money is a 2-hour lesson in order to allow sufficient tuition time once the student has settled in the car.  You can take lessons as frequently as you like, or take your time and spread them over a longer period.

Steve offers a door to door service so that there is no skimping on your time.  All lessons are on a one to one basis with no doubling up. Fast track students may want to take advantage of an intensive course over 3, 5 or 7 days dependent on experience.  Jackos Driving School has an impressive pass record and the ability to succeed where others have failed.

“I have just passed my driving test with Steve. He has been so good with me, as in 2000 I had 4 tests ... and failed everyone so I gave up.  Then last year I decided to have another go so I rang Steve and started again.  I was nervous and did not believe I could pass my driving test ... but he believed in me, and made me believe in myself .    He is so calm [and] makes you feel confident.  He never pushes you and cares about his clients... Steve is the best driving instructor I have ever been with, and without him I would not have my licence today.  You will never look back if you go with JACKO'S DRIVING SCHOOL .”

Every learner driver is different.  Steve ensures that each driver is given a course of instruction tailored to their individual needs.

In accordance with the student’s level of driving experience, he will assess the number of lessons required.  The Driving Standards Agency recommend that learners should have about 40 hours of lessons and another 25 hours of practice to be ready for the test.   The growing volume of traffic on the road has lead to the need for more lessons now than were necessary in the past.
